Taisuke stumbled into yoga in 2004, after finding his body stiff and sore from spending many hours hunched over a computer. His first teacher was Elizabeth Rainey, who teaches in the Anusara tradition.
After relocating to New Zealand Taisuke discovered Bikram yoga, which he practiced almost every day for three years. He is grateful Bikram for building a strong physical foundation to work from, and the focus and determination cultivated during those years still informs his practice and teachings today.
He completed his teacher training with Nicky Knoff in 2007. Nicky's practical, down to earth teachings rooted in the Iyengar and Ashtanga traditions opened his eyes (and heart!) to the concept of yoga as a way of life. His studies with Nicky convinced him to commit to the yogic path.
Since then, he has been leading classes and workshops all over the world, including Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Bali and Switzerland.
In addition to teaching yoga, Taisuke is also a veteran of the visual effects industry. Over the course of his decade-plus career he has worked on films such as King Kong, The Adventures of Tintin and Avatar. For more information, please check out his IMDB profile.
